Organisations specialising in sport

The French Federation for Company Sport (FFSE) is a multi-sports federation whose licence gives access to more than 30 different sports. It aims to develop the practice of physical activities or adapted sports, within the framework of the company, for the benefit of the health, well-being and integration of all employees, as well as serving the efficiency and collective performance of companies. The FFSE is affiliated to the CNOSF and approved by the Ministry of Sports.
The FFSE is: 50+ sports, 2000 events, 16 regional leagues, 3,000 member organisations, 3,000 athletes at the National Games, between 6,000 and 8,000 at the International Games, +200,000 individuals in the FFSE network.

The European Federation for Company Sport (EFCS) is a voluntary non-profit organisation founded in 1962 and based in Paris, It is a network of national federations that are leading associations in their respective countries for organisinge company-sport-related activities. The majority of these federations’ members are companies that differ in size, form and activity.

EFCS’s key figures: 17 million athletes, 150,000 clubs related to company sport, 41.000 companies, 900 employees in national federations, 50 sport disciplines, ranging from soccer, volleyball and golf to bridge, mountain biking, petanque and sailing, 21 summer company sport games since 1977 (on average, 7.000 participants, 30 disciplines, 1.000 staff, employees and volunteers), and 15 winter company sport games since 1990 (on average, 500 participants, 7 disciplines, 100 staff, employees and volunteers).

The EFCS’ main objective is to promote and develop sport practice in the professional environment across Europe. Company sport means all types of sport and physical activities that can be organised by a company and in its premises. Here, the term company refers to the workplace, so that administrations and local authorities can be identified as such. The federation focuses on values and topics like health and well-being enhancement, togetherness, non-discrimination, environmental awareness, diversity and gender equality, social inclusion and relationships.

The French National Olympic and Sport Committee (CNOSF) has two specific missions: IOC representative in France and French sport movement representative. In its capacity as a National Olympic Committee recognised by the IOC, the purpose of the French National Olympic and Sport Committee is:

  • to promote the fundamental principles of Olympism as laid down by Pierre de Coubertin and set out in the Olympic Charter;
  • to participate in activities which support peace and promote women in sport and totake responsible account of environmental and sustainable development issues;
  • to develop, promote and protect the Olympic Movement in France, pursuant to the Olympic Charter;
  • to create, organise and lead the French delegation for the Olympic Games and for regional, continental or world multi-sport competitions sponsored by the IOC;
  • to work – pursuant to the principles laid down by the Olympic Charter
  • to keep harmony and cooperation with the State, public authorities and any organisation which may contribute to the development of sport but also to preserving the fundamental principles and values of Olympism.

In its capacity as representative of the French Sports Movement, the purpose of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee is:

  • to promote the unity of the Sport Movement including sports federations, sports associations and companies affiliated with them and their licensees and other practitioners,;
  • to represent the Sports Movement;
  • to undertake, on behalf of federations or with them and in respect of their prerogatives, any activity of mutual interest;
  • to represent the Sports Movement and protect its interests in all areas which directly or indirectly concern it, with a view to benefiting from a legislative and regulatory environment adapted to sports activities and developing its society for the benefit of France ;
  • to develop the international influence of France through its activities, missions and international events organised in France by its members.

Furthermore, the French NOC’s scope of intervention has been extended to economical and commercial issues so that the field of the workplace is a recent and important investigation field. CNOSF is very delighted to be part of the WMP project and are very committed to participate in these several studies,as they led one in 2015 in France on this topic with Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) and Goodwill Cabinet.

Academic partners to guarantee the scientific quality of the study

The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is the largest university in Denmark and one of the most important institution for higher education in Scandinavia. The University has around 23,500 undergraduate,17,000 postgraduate and 3,000 doctoral students and more than 9,000 employees. The university has four campuses located in and around Copenhagen, with the headquarters in central Copenhagen. The Work, Move and Perf project will be conducted at the department of nutrition, exercise and sport which is a part of the science faculty.

The University of Murcia (UMU) is an international institution with over a hundred years behind it,although its origins can be traced back to the 12th century. Today, it is home to more than 30,000 students (2,000 of them from abroad), 3,000 researchers and lecturers, and an administration force counting 1,200. The UMU is a reference for Higher Education in southeast Spain. At the same time, it is a driving force in society in the Mediterranean Basin thanks to its Campus de Excelencia Internacional Mare Nostrum (CMN). UMU Faculty of Sports Science is totally dedicated to the WMP Project and will carry out the quantitative research part of the project, with the participation of PhD students.

Associations promoting physical activity in Europe – pilot case studies

The Association for Sport in the Free Time (ASFT) is a legal entity and a non-profit organization registered as per the Law of the Non-Profit Organizations.

The association supports and promotes the physical education and sport among the citizens from all social strata and all ages, with a priority for the students and the corporative and branch organizations. It ensures conditions for mass sport for the citizens, organizes and runs sport events and competitions, trainings, and otdoor physical activity. ASFT organizes and creates conditions for development of the physical education and sport of the different corporate and branch organizations by building and maintaining sport facilities and objects.

ASFT promotes and works with the following main sports for companies’ events – football, mini football, basketball, volleyball, cycling, athletics, tennis, swimming, badminton, beach wrestling, beach volleyball, beach football etc. with the aim to increase the interest in the sport and physical activity.

The Authority For Integrity In Maltese Sport (AIMS) was established in 2021 and its role consists of being the Sports Regulator of Maltese Sport. Its role includes regulating good governance and compliance in sport but will look into correct doping practices, fighting money laundering in sports, combat match-fixing, education, policy and many other functions.

The Government shall, through the establishment of the Authority, seek to regulate the recognition of sports organisations by the Government and sports integrity issues in collaboration with sports persons and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure that all persons involved in the provision or in the practice of sport in Malta respect those rules, regulations and policies and for upholding the principles of good governance, fair play and equality across the sporting community, and shall have as its objectives: regulation of Maltese sport, status of athletes, antidoping, anti-corruption etc.

The “Association Sportive de la Banque de France” is a Paris-based association governing the sports activities of Banque de France staff and service providers in the city and its surroundings. With several sports venues and over 40 sports associations, the Banque de France has the oldest company sports association in France, with a creation in 1885 and now close to 2,500 members in Paris and surroundings.

The Banque de France is an independent institution, it has been a member of the Eurosystem of central banks since 1999 which brings together the European Central Bank and the national central banks. Its three main missions are monetary strategy, financial stability and provide services to households, small and medium businesses and the French state.

The ASBF promotes through sport the social values dear to the Banque de France, which invests through its social and economic committee a substantial amount of money to enable Banque de France staff to play sport and improve their well-being and health.

Digital expert in online training

The European Network for Innovation and Knowledge (EUNIK) is a Foundation based in the Netherlands, but working internationally. EUNIK has been formed by higher education and R&D experts, with more than 15 years’ experience working in the international field and with EU Grants management.

EUNIK’s Objectives:

  • The design and implementation of Research & Development activities;
  • The promotion and implementation of activities and actions to promote digitalisation in the field of education, culture and sport.
  • To encourage international network cooperation between institutions, especially European, profit, and non-profit institutions that require support for the digitalisation of their activities.

Moreover, EUNIK aims to contribute to the EU and the Erasmus+ Scheme by supporting public and private bodies with their specific needs on knowledge management, eLearning and online education programmes’ implementation, and the digital transformation that will lead the EU to the next generation.
