What is the project?
Exploring physical activity’s impact on workplace performance
What are the effects of physical activity at work on the human, economic and organizational performance of companies?
That’s what the “Work, Move and Perf” (WMP) project is all about.
This Cooperation Partnership project, co-funded by the European Commission as part of the Erasmus+ Sport programme, will run for two years – from January 2024 to December 2025 – under the coordination of the French Federation for Company Sport.
The WMP project’s general objective is to improve active and healthy lifestyles among Europe by developing the practice of physical and sporting activites within workplaces.
It aims to demonstrate the importance of sporting activities for the well-being and health of employees, as well as for productivity and the reduction of social costs for the company. This will be done through a joint study conducted by university researchers and the partnership’s network of companies. It is the first European-level study on the subject.

The workplace is identified as a key area to fight against too high inactivity and sedentary lifestyles.

of employees see sport in the workplace as a pull factor. But only 11% of EU citizens take part in sport or physical activity at work (Special Eurobarometer 525, 2022).
There is a lack of specific and updated data about sport in the workplace and performance.
Objectives & timeline
The aim is to encourage companies to commit to physical activity programs at work, and to provide them with concrete tools:
January – May 2024
Analyse the needs, obstacles and requests of companies in terms of physical activity in the workplace.

Measure the effects of sport on work performance through qualitative and quantitative studies
Pilot experiment in 3 companies in Malta, Bulgaria and France
